Shock Tower Welding

How is everyone welding out the back side of their shock towers?

are they pulling the motor to get better access or are they just welding what they can get from the wheel well

So I can tell you how I do it.    Since its a 2 piece tower.  You just pull it out of the truck once its been mocked up. Weld it up and put it back in place then weld it to the frame.    If you have the towers already make sure you weld the inside of the tower at the top. Dont leave the top section where the coilovers bolt it un-welded. if you do, it will fail.

no the tower to the frame not the two parts of the tower

You're leaning in and doing the dirty. You dont really need to weld the backside. Just the front and around the sides. I do weld both sides of the part that goes down/vertical on the rails. Just not the backside across the top of the frame.

Ya that what im after is how people are getting in and getting the backside across the top of the frame. Ive already got the rest all burned in with a triple pass weld, as the single pass didn't look like enough to me

Welds look fine.  Id recommend more wire speed to help minimize spatter.


Does the overall install look something like this for bump and tower placement?

So long as your coilovers were mocked up and they clear with no rubbing you'll be fine.
